It feels a little odd sitting in my new (well, veeeeeery old but new to me) living room in San Francisco while looking through these images from our San Diego home. I’m surrounded by the same objects yet the walls and windows and kitchen cabinets and light switches and neighbourhood noises are all totally different. Still, I feel at home. Perhaps that’s why we tend to feel an attachment to our belongings. They can bring a small sense of familiarity when we’re in an unfamiliar place.
Below are images of the surroundings and belongings that made up our home in San Diego. We spent a beautiful and sunny year in that apartment and although it had its quirks and dramatic moments (like a disastrous sewage problem 2 weeks before we moved) we loved nearly every moment of living there. We loved the old window details and white brick fireplace, the view of our neighbourhood and the massive palm tree out front. It was the perfect little place for us live our San Diego lives in.
I hope you enjoy these images of our little home tour! For those inevitable curious minds, I left a list of sources after each “room”. But if I didn’t list something that you’re curious about, please leave a comment and I’ll try to point you in the right direction.
